I Shot the Sheriff: members of the band Alias

Alias is a band that emerged out of the unexpected success of a single by a defunct band.  In 1988, 3 years after Sheriff split, Sheriff’s “When I’m With You”climbed the US Billboard chart after a DJ named Jay Taylor in Las Vegas had played this song and the response was instant. A song without a band now had a hit that was climbing the charts when, in January 1989, Capitol Records made an unprecedented move and re-released the Sheriff album in the US. “When I’m with You” hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart in February 1989. Two members of Sheriff tried to get the band back together, but the other members of Sheriff were not interested. Those two members,  songwriter/lead vocalist Freddy Curci and songwriter/lead guitarist Steve DeMarchi, moved on and joined forces with ex-members of Heart: Roger Fisher, Steve Fossen and Mike Derosier, to form the new band Alias.

The band released its self-titled album in 1990, going gold in the U.S. and platinum in Canada, scoring a #2 Billboard Top 40 hit with the power ballad “More Than Words Can Say”.

Check out this EPK about the band’s history and journey.
